Ricordo di mia madre
Today my mother would have taken years and we celebrated. Today I want to remember with this poem by Giuseppe Ungaretti:
mother
And the last beat of a heart when
will have brought down the wall of shadow
to take me, Mother, until the Lord, As once
give me your hand.
Kneeling, decisive,
You will be a statue before the Lord,
As you saw when you were still alive.
get up trembling old hands, like when
spirasti
saying: My God, here I am. And only when
possess me forgiven,
You will want to look at.
Memories of me waited so long, And you will
eyes quick sigh.
